The Irish College of Iridology is offering Certificate and Diploma level courses for practitioners. The introductory course is taught over one week-end and qualifies students to take the Certificate course. The Certificate course and the Diploma course are also taught over one week-end each, plus a home study programme.The Diploma course also requires the student to provide ten case histories and take an exam.

The Diploma course is accredited by the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists - London.

On successful completion of the Diploma course, the student may be become a member of the Guild and qualify for full insurance as an Iridologist.

To show why Iridology is so important in my herbal clinic consultations - here is an example:

Two patients of the same age both suffering with mild- moderate acne, with no other complications. One patient had a Kidney - lymphatic iris constitution, and the other had a Glandular - mixed iris constitution. Meaning the one patient had a potential for faulty metabolism of proteins with a likelihood of uric acid retention. The other had a potential weakness of glandular tissue such as pituitary, thyroid, hypothalamus and so on, requiring a different diet and treatment regime from the first.

The examples given are extremely brief as there was a great deal more revealed by the iridology consultation, but it highlights where the inflammatory pathways may be originating from. The therapeutic programme formulated varied considerably between the two patients.

Iridology provides the means to analyse the effect of changes on the structure and function of the body, determine constitutional type and discover the influences of inflammatory pathways. There is no healing modality that would not benefit from an understanding of iridology.

Professional Status and Recognition
Graduates will be eligible for membership of the Acupuncture Council of Ireland (ACI). This will enable graduates avail of the ACI's professional insurance policy and are designated "qualifying practitioners" for the purposes of patients making claims from their private health insurance - VHI, Quinn Healthcare and AVIVA. The ACI is responsible for the regulation and maintenance of a Register of Acupuncturists. Only fully qualified and insured practitioners can become members of the Acupuncture Council of Ireland. All members are bound by a Code of Ethics and Code of Practice, which is strictly enforced by the Executive Committee of the ACI, thus offering a guarantee of confidence to any patient seeking treatment.

In mid 1970 Dr Su Pin Chen studied in the laboratories of Zhong Hospital in Shanghai, which is the teaching hospital of Shanghai No 1 Medical University. Dr Chen later studied Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture Channels and Collaterals Institute.
