Qualifications and Training:
At the time of writing, there is no regulatory sytem for complementary therapies in Ireland. There are
some self regulated professional associations, depending on therapy. Regulation
of the industry may be in the pipeline, as the government and the eu seek to
protect consumers /patients of complementary therapies.
Anyone can advertise their services in such areas as massage or reiki; for this reason clients should
check out credentials, and ask around for a good therapist.
There are a number of professional qualifications which are recognised for
cover approval by private health insurers VHI,
and BUPA. Acupuncturists and Homeopaths are often qualified to such a standard,
and benefit from this seal of approval.
