Reflexology | My name is Dawn Nolan and I am a CThA registered, ITEC qualified, practicing Massage and Reflexology Therapist. I specialise in medical massage for cancer clients. My belief is that Complementary Therapies compliment the clinical work carried out by our doctors, surgeons and health care professionals. The very nature of complementary therapies compliment modern medicine by helping to improve patient comfort, reduce stress and anxiety levels; promote wellbeing and relaxation all of which help to speed up a patients healing process.
I am not an advocate of working outside the clinical/medical system and do not believe that complementary therapies can replace conventional medicine, but rather they can work together to help improve the journey patients are forced to endure in order to combat illness. My Medical Massage techniques are those employed by Sloan-Kettering Memorial Cancer Center, New York. It was at this facility where the Massage Therapy for Symptom Control: Outcome Study was undertaken. The study included 1,290 people and the results showed huge reductions in pain, fatigue, anxiety, nausea and depression in patients with cancer.
